FORGETTING STUDENT WIFI NETWORK

If you were previously connected to Student Wi-Fi on a device, but are now unable to rejoin with your MySVCC credentials, you may need to tell your device to forget the ‘student’ network. This clears the previously used username/password and allows you to refresh them.

  • For Windows 10 devices, open the Wi-Fi menu from the taskbar, right-click on ‘student’ and click “Forget”.

  • For iPhones / iPads, go to Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the blue (i) next to “student”, then tap “Forget This Network”, then click “Forget”.

  • For Android devices, go to Settings > Network/Wi-Fi, tap and hold ‘student’ in the network list, then select “Forget”.

  • For Mac OS Devices, go to System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi > Advanced, select ‘student’ from the list, then click the [-] button.

Once you’ve forgotten the ‘student’ network, try signing in again with your current MySVCC credentials.

OTHER TIPS

      * When signing into wi-fi, do not include @email.vccs.edu in your username!

For example, use “xyz54321” instead of “xyz54321@email.vccs.edu”

  • Your MySVCC credentials are the same credentials you use to sign into Canvas, SIS, and your SVCC student email (without @email.vccs.edu in your username).

  • If your MySVCC password is reset or expires, your devices will most likely disconnect from Student Wi-Fi. To get reconnected, follow the steps above to forget/reconnect to the ‘student’ Wi-Fi network. If you need to reset your MySVCC password, contact MySVCC Helpdesk at (434) 949-1010 or open a ticket by emailing helpdesk@southside.edu and someone will contact you by phone.

  • Please do not use ‘svcc-guest’ to connect to Wi-Fi. If you are an active student, then ‘student’ is the correct Wi-Fi network to be connected to.

For further help connecting to Student Wi-Fi, please contact or visit one of our IT Helpdesks on either of the main SVCC campuses.
